King Tide

Twice every month, at the full Moon and at the new Moon, the tides are at their maximum, the high tide is higher and the low tide is lower than they are at their average every other day.

Why is that? The best answer is probably: Nobody cares, let’s move on.

Second best answer: Since the world is flat some water will regularly gush over the edges, thereby lowering the level. Once it is refilled by divine forces, first we experience high tide, until enough water gushed over the edge… and so on.

Lastly and for the sake of completeness, may I be forgiven for also providing the answer for the few people out there who (still) believe in science, vaccines, evolution, climate change (in the strong form “man made” not just in the weak form “has always happened”) and the Moon landing.

Be it as it may, the king low tide is a splendid opportunity to go out there where no man has ever been (in the last two weeks) and explore:
